Business Community Glad to Support
Women’s Pro Soccer Team
PHILADELPHIA, PA (February 10, 2010) The Philadelphia Independence continues to expand and broaden business relationships in the mid-Atlantic region, finalizing important partnerships with several area businesses, including Premier Orthopedics & Sports Medicine Associates, LTD and Crozer-Keystone Health System; Sheraton Great Valley Hotel; ACME Markets; Joseph Anthony Retreat Spa & Salon; and ANRO Print & Digital Solutions. The wide range of marketing assets offered by the Independence and Women’s Professional Soccer (WPS) provide a unique way for all categories of regional and local businesses to reach their existing and new target audiences, as well as support the growth of soccer and women’s sports.
“We are thrilled to be partnering with this diverse range of business sponsors, all of whom are leaders in their categories of business and recognize the value of becoming founding sponsors of the Independence in our inaugural season” says Independence Executive Director of Sales and Marketing, Steve Scebelo. “The Independence will work individually with each partner to develop a customized platform to activate their sponsorship and connect with our fan base.”
- Premier Orthopedics & Sports Medicine Associates, LTD and Crozer-Keystone Health System
“Official Medical Partner of the Independence” Provides team physician and trainer, in addition to all other team medical needs on a daily basis. Premier and Crozer-Keystone are two of the most respected health care organizations in Delaware County and with this partnership fulfill a critical component of Philly’s women’s pro team. - ACME Markets
“Official Supermarket Partner of the Independence” ACME, a SUPERVALU company, operates 125 stores in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and Maryland, employing over 16,000 associates. With a market-leading position in the Delaware Valley, ACME offers consumers fresh and convenient supermarket solutions, in addition to services such as Sav-on Pharmacies at select locations. Established in 1891, the company and its associates remain committed to the communities they serve, contributing more than $4 million each year to a variety of local charitable causes. - Sheraton Great Valley Hotel
“Preferred Hotel Partner” The Sheraton Great Valley is located just ten minutes from United Sports, the Official Training Home of the Independence. The Great Valley will provide lodging for visiting teams, Independence players’ family and friends, and Independence Cup Tournament participants during the July 4th tournament weekend. - Joseph Anthony Retreat Spa & Salon
“Official Retreat Spa and Salon of the Independence” Joseph Anthony will begin activation of the partnership with a preseason “Independence Day at the Spa”, a full-service day for players to be pampered as they gear up for regular season play. - ANRO Printing and Digital Solutions
“Official Print and Digital Solutions Provider” ANRO will provide all of the team’s primary print projects, including the official game day program, pocket schedules, ticket sales brochures and much more.
With the medical partnership comes another great addition, the Independence’s official athletic trainer Hollie Walusz. Hollie was hired by Premier from a highly qualified group of applicants and has an impressive background in athletic training, particularly women’s soccer. In addition to serving as head trainer for the Women’s Soccer Program at the College of William & Mary for the past three years, Hollie was invited to the most recent US Women’s National Team Camp to provide health care, rehabilitation, practice session and game day coverage for all the top female soccer players in the country. Hollie is an important asset to the organization and her involvement is the result of Premier-Crozer’s commitment to this business sponsorship.
“Each one of these businesses is widely respected in our community” says Independence Owner/CEO David Halstead. “Their support and partnership with the Independence is a testament to the quality product that we are bringing to the community and the reception that we’ve gotten in the greater Philadelphia area. As a new professional sports team in this market, we are relying on the support of our fans and the business community, and financial backing and sponsorships such as these five, which will continue to build momentum toward our 2010 season’s start and our permanent, positive presence in the city of Philadelphia.”
