Independence Gives Tryout Players Opportunity To Shine

The Philadelphia Independence, after one week with tryout players in preseason camp, made it up the highway to face Rutgers University in a controlled scrimmage. Although the Independence players that made the trip dominated play, they fell short in the end 2-1. The scrimmage gave the coaching staff an opportunity to evaluate players prior to the veterans arriving in camp on Monday. Said General Manager Terry Foley of the scrimmage, “We achieved our goal for the evening of seeing several players against good competition. With this first outing behind us, we are better prepared for Monday when our WNT and international players show for camp. We’ve seen a lot of things this past week at preseason tryouts that we like, and now we are ready to get on with building our roster for 2010.”

The team’s next preseason game will be against the University of North Carolina on March 20, at Philadelphia’s training facility, United Sports in Downingtown, PA. For ticket information, please visit, www.independencetix.com.
